The Real Deal
You'll never guess where we went today! The Knitting Niche in Greenwich
(www.knitting
niche.com} They're having a sale on some pretty cool stuff, like Noro. Vanessa, the owner, is always ready to help. Last time I visited the store, I was inspired by one of Vanessa's patterns to create a horizontally-knit scarf using lots of different colors, ribbon and big yarn-over stitches. It seemed fitting to wear my finished "Mink and Kitchen Sink" scarf there today and let my yarn visit its "roots". The trick to this scarf was that I went to Marshall's and bought a $15 faux fur scarf, and cut off the balls to add to my trim. Even though I'd never wear real animal fur (or cut off anyone's balls, for that matter), they look like real mink and they give the piece a nice "edge." A woman in the store commented on how much she liked it and said, "I'd buy that in a hearbeat." Believe me, I was tempted to follow her out of the shop and make a deal in the parking lot, but it was Greenwich, after all - so I thanked her and bought more yarn.

What a funny story!! Only a Fairfield county resident could truly understand the Greenwich vibe!! Sounds like you may have found a good market for some scarves though - I bet you could make a bundle with those beauties.
