Gettin' Knit Together

There are two things that most knitters have in common: we buy a lot of yarn and we save a lot of yarn -  which, in my case, gets thrown in plastic bins for the future. But the thing is, if I wanted to use that yarn again, I have no clue if it's wool, cashmere, acrylic or possum. I have no idea when I got it, or even what I made with it the first time. I always think I will remember, but (what a surprise) I never do. In fact, as soon as I start a project or wind a ball, I put the label somewhere "safe" but in no time, I have lost the band (again - no surprise). How any times have I been short a skein, and I have to bring the whole UFO into the store - and that's if I remember WHERE I bought it.
Well, I'm happy to report that I am going to solve this problem, for me and maybe for you, too.
I am going to turn my stash, from this:

INTO THIS:

This just might be the best organizational idea since Tupperware! I call it THE YARN MINDER.Yarn_minder_1 It's a high quality plastic sleeve where you can safely store the yarn label and a soft elastic that wraps around your yarn during and after a project. Finally,my crazy stash is becoming a resuable resource.

Yarn Minders will be available  in packs of 3 and 6, and also as a part of a "Gettin' Knit Together" - the quintessential organizational tools kit for the disorganized knitter.

PackageThe Kit contains 3 Yan Minders, an amazing Pocket Needle Inventory that small enough for your wallet, big enough to read and sturdy enough to last for years, as well as other tools for tracking the progress of a project.

Don't worry - I'm not going commerical on you (yet) - or auditioning for American Inventor! But I am excited about the idea, and I'd love to send you a sample and get your feedback.

What a wonderful idea! It will do really well I'm sure. Sign me up for a sample any day! :)

Sounds like a great idea! Not sure it will work for me - I already have my yarn, needle, and pattern inventory on my PDA, including notes on where I bought stuff.

Really, I'm not anal. Truly. ;)

i need the stash minders ASAP. the PDA comment blew me away. i am sooooooooooooooo not together i thought it meant please don't ask and that i relate to.

What a great idea! Whenever I use a rubber band to hold the label on the smaller/used skein, it slips off and drives me batty. Nothing worse than coming back to your stash and finding labels with rubber bands and skeins of yarn all alone! I'd love to test a sample anytime.

That is a really neat idea! I'll be a tester anyday...

Great idea! Cute and useful.

Sign me up! I want two!!

That is brilliant. Sign me up too.

What an awesome idea! I am "organizationaly challenged" I have stuff just thrown in bins. If you have an extra sample, I'd love to try it out!

If you need another sample to test, I'd love one. My daughter and I both knit so we could give you twice the feedback if you like.

I'd love a sample as well. What a great idea!

Very inventive!

I'd be happy to pay for a sample...or trade maybe?

I thought your idea was great when I saw the "sneak preview" at SnLive . . . but I'm even more impressed now!! Your packaging is so brilliant, I love your kit!! Good for you . . . I wish you the best of luck and would be happy to help out in any way I can. :)

These look amazing. I want some. These are going to sell like crazy.

Great idea. It'd love to try one too.

I am SO in love with this idea. I'll even pay for a sample. This is a wonderful idea, Purl!

that is a great idea... I have so many random yarn labels an no PDA! I'd love a sample!

Cool idea! You have to market that somehow--what a cool way to organize the stash.
