It was a Knitmare!
It was going to be a nice quiet night of knitting.
Then, I don't know what happened. One minute I was looking for a pair of needles I was convinced I had stored in with a project - and the next minute, I had emptied every yarn basket, box and bag into a giant heap on the floor. What a mess.
Three hours later, I had thwarted it and sorted, winded and yarn- minded it all
into yarn baskets, boxes and bags.
I divided it into wool vs cotton vs silk and cashmere.
There's the box of eyelash in every color, a sure sign that I was knitting heavily in 2003.
There's a basket full of what I am calling my "one skein wonders", beautiful balls that I own only one of and therefore, will never do anything with.
There's a big bag of Highland and eco-wools I bought for felting and a mess of roving and batting that I'll surely take to the grave.
I found at least 5 projects that I had forgotten that I had started; a few bags of yarn for projects I will probably never start, and two very painful memories of half-baked garments I know I will never finish. And there's the BIG BLUE BUMBA $80 BALL of 1500 yards of wool that will be a constant reminder of what happens when you don't ask the price but you're too embarrassed to not buy.
I do have 12 projects on the launching pad that I can't wait to start after I finished the 8 works-in-progress I already have on the needles - which means I am vowing to not buy anything until Stitches East in November.
I feel good that its done - even though I missed ANOTHER night of knitting.

Wow! That's a lot of yarn!
I've been sucked in to similar endeavors. It usually ends in me finding a big bag full of stuff I end up giving away, swapping or selling for ... more yarn.

You've just described my knitting life, right down to the Big Blue Bumba!

Oooh, look how nice and tidy and organized though!!! It makes me feel so good just looking at it. :) Yeah, I would've been too embarrassed to ask the price and too embarrassed not to buy it too.

I love seeing pictures of how other people organize their yarn and knitting stuff. Great job!
