The Last Detail
In the movie the Last Detail, Jack Nicolson & Randy Quaid have one last wild weekend on the way to the lock-up. Well, Regina and I are off to
Baltimore - for the big Stitches East show, and this has got to be the last of the yarn buying until well into 2007. It's that or I really will need to be locked up!
Since this is the case, I am really looking to buy some special stuff. I definitely have cashmere at the top of the list, and some special sock yarn. Something to make a big ol' comfy sweater - and I'm thinking about a poncho, perhaps. And there's always incredible scarf yarns.
So, here's the question, if you had to buy your very last skeins for your very last project, what would you buy and what pattern would you make?? Don't worry about the details, I'll haunt you later.
GKT Kits to any one who comes up with something that I actually land on!!
Back on Monday with all the loot!!

My very last project? Oh, that makes me sad just thinking about not knitting anymore!
This wouldn't require the really special yarn you're looking for. If I could only knit one more thing, I'd knit something for my daughter that she could always keep and use. Right now I think that would be the lace edged pillowcases from Weekend Knitting. The pattern calls for Jaeger Siena (100% mercerized cotton), but I don't know if I'd use that or not.
Have fun shopping!

buy seasilk and make a simple lacy scarf of shawl. I have the easiest pattern with an 8 row repeat. The fibers smell just like the ocean!

Let's see. My very last knitting project? I think I would buy some handmaidan silk cashmere and I think I'd make Knitty's Lucie. http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTlucie.html

If money is not a factor then I would definitely buy some type of silk/cashmere blend and make a cute sweater with an empire waist style. If I couldnt make the sweater than I would make a pair of socks and man would they be cozy! Tilly Thomas or Koigu would also come in as runners up in the yarn buying department. Have fun at STITCHES!

I have always wanted to successfully knit a lace shawl. Charlotte's web out of Koigu, specifically. I love the various colors and the design. I really hate knitting lace, though! My last project would last me forever if I did a lace shawl, or I would learn to appreciate/love knitting lace. Have a blast at Stitches!

My absolute favorite yarn is Manos del Uruguay. So soft, so shiny - hand spun and hand dyed. It's a bit bulky for say, socks (actually, WAY too bulky). A pattern that calls for Manos is "My So Called Scarf", but I have a dream of making a cardigan that is feminine, flatterning and interesting to knit without taking away from the uber-yumminess of the yarn. Did I mention it's my favorite? :) The Sea Silk, though...that's a toughy!

Have fun! I saw The Last Detail at the movie theater and it's pretty safe to say I had no idea what the movie was actually about.
The last project and the last purchase of yarn? Oh no! Horrors. This is like that book on a desert island. So.... I'd say I would buy Lion & Lamb and I'd make a cabled cardigan.

I don't think I'd care about the yarn as much as the challenge... I think I would finally get up the nerve to try to make something in entrelac!
