First things first

Jan1 Happy Knit Year!  Today is also my blogiversary. I started this blog last New Years Day. I wanted to see if I could do it for a year.  It's also my five year anniversary with 'my guy". I said I'd do that for a while and see how it went, too. Well, it appears that both have lasted a lot longer than I thought they would. And I really love both. I have to say, I am a bit up in the air about continuing to blog - or to figure out how often to post. I think there are so many great knitting blogs out there that even the most faithful readers don't have time to read more than one or two, more than once or twice a week. And no one likes to talk about it, but without getting comments, blogging is sort of the equivalent to a tree that has silenty fallen in the Internet forest.

During the last week, I have been madly knitting, however, so I do have to get the camera clicking to post some new FOs. Ive been obsessed with gloves!!

One thing that I always try to accomplish on my blog is to keep my posts short and sweet, and to ask your opinion:

what's your vote:

1) Knit and Plenty Mondays?

2) Go Knit. I've had plenty.

3) Whenever. Whatever.

4.) Your suggestion?

5) Hellloooo - it's that forest thing again....hellooooo???

Wishing you a happy and very knitful 2007!

Comments

My suggestion is that you wait a bit before you decide anything. (How's that for procrastination?!) I've noticed a decrease in comments since Thanksgiving. People may be reading and not commenting much right now. I definitely think that you should not stop blogging.

Happy New Year to you, too!

Happy Blogiversary! (I started mine a year ago today as well) :)

I think that the blog can mean many different things to different people. I'm a bit more towards the post whenever about whatever - I don't have any set regularity about when I post & what it is. Earlier this fall I was pretty close to silent when work was consuming me & it was great to get back to the blog.

I've noticed that comments are down as well but my site traffic seems to be up...hmmm?

Happy Blog Day!

I think you would be surprised by how many blogs people read. And not just the big deal knitting blogs, either. It's nice to see what the 'real people' knitters are up to. Plus it's more than just the knitting, ya know. I say you have a think and give it some time.

Oh, and get your boy to take you to dinner tonight. ;^)

Happy Blogiversary! Comments are down over at my blog too, but I have a feeling that there was a lot of mad knitting going on in the past month or so. I for one would be sad if you stopped blogging. I enjoy your wit. I say, blog when you feel. Once a week is a nice amount. Of course, if the desire to blog has waned, there's nothing wrong with stepping back for a while.

You're on my bloglines list. I loved the Carols. I'm not clever enough to write poetry (carols) or even comment, other than the occasional, me too! (which I keep to myself). But I do read your blog every time it's up. And enjoy it, too!

Best wishes for a happy new year!

Congrats! I have not even been on a year yet! I have noticed that blogging traffic is done in the summertime & around holidays, don't quit, I think blogging is threapeautic, I love it. And my family loves to read it.

Just don't quit. I actually read 10-20 blogs a couple of times a week? Don't comment real often but occasionally.

Don't stop! I love your blog. Sorry I don't comment more. But I read every post. Happy Blog Anniversary!

I did the NaBloPoMo thing, and that made me realise that I definitely don't want to try to find something witty and endearing to say every day, but that blogging is still something that I want to do.

You're on my (unhealthily long) Bloglines list, and I do enjoy reading your posts - my vote is not to stop blogging, but just to post when you feel you're particularly inspired, rather than trying to force posts. This is NOT to say that I've ever found your posts sound forced - I'm really talking about my own, and what works best for me.

Congratulations on your blogiversary, and I hope you find the option that works best for you!

Don't stop, although I know what you mean about the comments. I quit blogging for a couple of months trying to "catch up on laundry," and now that I'm back no one remembers me:( Oh well, it's fun just to catalog a fun part of my life.

Post as often as you like! I check more than most people, but don't always make the time to comment. Bad on me. I'll be better this year!

I agree with everyone else, dont stop (and please ignore my lack of apostrophes, whenever I try to use the darn thing it opens up some odd something or other but will not give me the character!) I love reading your posts, so much so that after I found your blog I went back and read the whole archive (cuz Im weird like that) So put me in the Whatever Whenever catagory. Most folks use Bloglines or some other feed reader, so we see every post. I am also in the "hardly ever comment" catagory, I try too, but usually I have nothing intelligent to add.

So, please dont quit, you would be missed! (I see 71 subscribers to this blog in Bloglines, so you definately have a good sized readership when you take into consideration the other feed readers and those who dont use one at all!)

I say number 3. I always enjoy your posts!

Congrats on a year of great writing and knitting of course! You are on my google reader so I do get a chance to read you every post! My take on the blog is post when you have something to say or show. My blog has not been posted on for awhile because my 3 and 1/2 month old daughter does not give me a lot of time to post. I say don't stop, but posting everyday is not necessary if you don't have time. Look forward to reading your blog in 2007!

Congrats on the blogaversary and the man! I enjoy reading your posts. Blog whenever you want/can! Happy New Year!

Keep on blogging! I dont keep a blog for others, I do it for myself. Oh, and no one comments on mine so if I followed that rule I wouldnt have one. I enjoy reading yours.

I admire your talent for writing poetry. I hope you will choose to continue your blog as you find time.

I have 24 blogs listed in my Blogroll and this is one of them. You ARE being read on a regular basis. :-) I blog when I feel like it and while I enjoy receiving comments, I don't stress if I don't receive any. It means (to me) that either I stated my point clearly, needing no further clarification or discussion, or it didn't spark anything significant this time around. I'm writing mostly for myself, anyway, though others are always welcome to join in. So I say, keep on bloggin' on if it's something you enjoy doing. Happy New Year!

I might be unusual but I read about 20 - 25 blogs every day. I mostly enjoy seeing what everyone is knitting. I rarely comment but I really do enjoy all that you write. I don't enjoy the ones that have other crafts or baking stuff on them. Sometimes I'll add a new blog to my list and delete one that doesn't blog too frequently. I think you should do whatever works for you. Your efforts are greatly enjoyed but it shouldn't be a nagging chore for you to do.

I'm way late chiming in on this, but I say whatever whenever. That's how I do it and I like it that way. I for one read every single post since I started reading your blog, just sometimes I have to do marathons to catch up. (I actually wrote a post about that today). Anyway, I notice comments fell off all the way around around the holidays and I think people are just sort of swinging back into it. Anyway, I hope you don't decide to stop!!!!
