A Country Mouse
One of the best things about living in CT is that you can get in the car, drive an hour North and be in the most beautiful countryside. Especially at this time of year. It wasn't THE peak Fall weekend, but it was incredible weather for pumpkin picking and window shoppping. My guy and I took off on Saturday morning for Simsbury, CT. We stayed overnight at the
Simsbury Inn (very nice), went shopping on West Hartford and stopped in to visit my GKT Kits at Sit N Knit and had a nice dinner at an old inn called the Pettibone Tavern - which they say is haunted, and which I wouldn't believe, except that when I took the picture outside, this is what I got:
I didn't do much knitting - but I took along a small project with me that I could pick up here and there.
It's a wrist support for using a mouse.
Action photo: View this photo I made it out of the same organic superwash that I used for the cabled purse.
It's probably one of the silliest things I've ever made, but it was a manageable travel project and when I sit at my desk, it will be a pleasant reminder of a very pleasant weekend.
How was yours??

After this weekend of indulging, I plan to stick with only cakes that come from my knittin' sticks.
Is it statistically valid or assumptive that most knitters like coffee? Maybe its the caffeine boost to help us finish that heel turn, or just that our addictive personalities wander in several directions. But personally, I love a good cup of java. So when I heard about this one-cup brewer from Keurig, I had to get all the online scoop (actually no pun intended) - which immediately led to a Green Mountain shopping cart, a few quick clicks and it was mine! The way it works is that the coffee comes in something called a K-CUP (obviously the K stands for knitting) The K Cup gets placed inside the machine, lower the handle, push a button and yes, INSTANT BREWED piping hot coffee. It's deee-licious. It arrived three days after I ordered. (Yes, I paid extra) But I am absolutely loving it. I didn't steer you wrong about the Jiffy Steamer, did I?
Beautiful, Too went off to summer camp on Sunday. She's been going for years but this time she's going to be a counselor-in-training. This camp is right out of the movies, like the Parent Trap. When I was a kid, I wanted to be Hayley Mills. but I was too afraid to go to sleep-away camp. I was the kid that couldn't get through a sleepover without going home at 1 a.m. And besides, there were bugs and spiders at camp - and my mother was quick to point out, "YOU'D GET EATEN ALIVE!" Not bit. Not stung. EATEN ALIVE. It went along with hearing "YOU'RE GONNA KILL YOUSELF" if I went on the playground monkey bars- or "YOU"LL FREEZE TO DEATH" if I went out without a coat.
Champagne. Cash. Men in Uniform. As we learned from your comments in my last posting, it's good to know that we'll stop knitting for something! I had to stop knitting this weekend to pick up Purl's new supa fine ride. Isn't she a doozy??
One of the things I really like about the winter is a weekends with no plans. After a long work week, I love coming into a Friday night knowing that I can put on my comfy clothes and big slippers, rent movies and settle down for some marathon knitting. You'll notice i said 'marathon' and not Olympics. I originally created for myself the Women's Freestyle Poncho competition, but that went 'downhill" real fast because I have far too many WIPS, including a few scarves that I better finish before its gets warm. Besides, I knit to get away from deadlines, not to meet them. So, re: Olympics, I'm going to have to pull a Kwan. I hope all the other Olympians will achieve their personal bests. Enjoy your weekend and please check in on Monday. We'll compare notes.
